A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Felix Akpan, who was kidnapped last Saturday in Ukanafun, Akwa Ibom State, has regained freedom.
Among those arrested in connection with the incident is a 20 year old cultist, Uduakobong lme.
Speaking with newsmen, Ime, a member of Debam Cult, said he engaged in the crime because his father was killed by rival cult group.
Ime is among the three suspects involved in cult related killings in Ikot Udobong, Ukanafun Local Government Area.
Parading the suspects at the Police Command’s Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, Commissioner of Police, Mr. Donald Awunah said Rev. Fr. Akpan was rescued unhurt by his men from Operation Impact during operation that led to the arrest of the suspects.
He said the suspects confessed to have kidnapped a lecturer and political party chieftain in the State.
Among exhibits recovered from the suspects were one AK 47 rifle, 5 rounds of 9mm ammunition, one locally made pistol, one NISSAN Primera car with registration number 861DO and N180,000 cash.
Rev. Fr. Felix Akpan was the priest in charge of Saint Michael’s Parish, Ikot Etim in UKANAFUN Local Government Area.
