Contribute Your Ideas During Public Hearings To Help Us Pass People Oriented Laws -AKHA Speaker tells members of the public

The Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Onofiok Luke has called on members of the public to always come out and contribute their quotas during public hearings organized by the house before the passage of any bill into law.

Mr Luke made this known yesterday at the plenary after the second reading of the “Bill for the Prohibition of Cattle and other Ruminants Grazing in Akwa Ibom State”.

He pointed out that it was through the collective inputs gathered from members of the public that the respective committees of the house are able to perform well.

He stressed that Honourable Members don’t have monopoly of knowledge, but shared knowledge between Honourable Members and the general public who elected them to be their representatives.

“I always say that we do not have monopoly of knowledge, it is by shared knowledge by members of the public who elected us. It is the collective inputs we gather from members of the public which is always reflected on the final reports submitted by legislative committees”.

Continuing, he stressed that “Honourable Members don’t deliberate on matters that concern the state on social media but on the floor of the House”, and therefore use the opportunity to urge members of the public to always to always attain plenary, as the House is open for members of the public since they were elected by them.

He also appeal to members of the public to continue supporting them as they are always ready to pass people-oriented laws
