Ofon-Ama Initiative Links Grassroots with State Government in A'Ibom

A new link has been created as an avenue to bridge the gap between government and the people at the grassroots in Akwa Ibom through empowerment and as a means of promoting good working relationship between government and communities in the state.
This is the brainchild of a socio-political organization in the State named Ofon-Ama Initiative, who came up with a program tagged Udom Aduk Efaak! to preach the gospel of Gov Udom Emmanuel and ensure even distribution of dividend of democracy to people at the grassroots in the state.
President of the organization, Mr Udeme Emmanuel gave the indication during interaction with newsmen shortly after flagging off of the movement in Uyo the state capital to boost public relations of the state government.
He said the need for the Governor and the state government to maintain a close working relationship with the grassroots should be consistent rather than waiting for the next election to campaign, noting that governance can also be achieved through charity program which his organization is championing with government in the state.
" Ofon-Ama Initiative came up with the ideology of bringing governance closer to the people at the grassroots under Udom Aduk Efaak! programs. The objective is to create opportunity for the people at the grassroots to be empowered by government. Already, the first batch of beneficiary went home with a lot of items including fuckernicer mechines" , Udeme stated.
According to him, Ofon-Ama Initiative which was on the fore front of rallying support for Udom Emmanuel to become the state Governor, is poised to sustain the support beyond politics to governance by adding value to the state as a community based support group.
Udeme Emmanuel disclosed that Ofon-Ama Initiative had recruited 450 personnels to assist government and the public in voluntary road traffic control services and have also partnered with the FRSC to sensitized the people on safety consciousness. The group also served as community policing partners.
He however commended Gov Udom Emmanuel for justifying the confidence reposed in him while soliciting support for him, appealed for encouragement of the scheme even as he advised aides of the Governor to make effort to reduce the work load of the Governor by reaching out to the people. According to him, Udom Aduk Efaak will continue to extend its tentacles to the three Senatorial District of the state to ensure impact of democracy is felt at the grassroots.
