A COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF ETOI POLITICAL STAKEHOLDERS MEETING OF THE PEOPLES DEMOCRTIC PARTY, PDP, AKWA IBOM STATE HELD ON WEDSNESSDAY MARCH 29, 2017

A meeting of Etoi Political Stakeholders of the People Democratic Party, Akwa Ibom State, was held on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Aqua Resort, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The meeting which was convinced by Mr. Ebong Bassey, the Managing Director of Akwa Savings and Loans Ltd, had in attendance prominent sons and daughters of Etoi Clan in Uyo Local Government Area.
After exhaustive deliberations on a number of issues, particularly the dire need of Etoi Clan (Wards 4 and 5) in Uyo Local Government Area to unite as well as speak and act in one heart and one voice in support of the Second Term bid of His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emanuel, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, and the coronation of the Clan Head of etoi Clan, Etebom Okon Edet Udoabasi, the meeting resolved as follows:
(1) That the PDP Stakeholders in Etoi Clan deeply appreciate His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, for his skillful engineering of the State, despite the biting recession in the country, to be able to pay salaries on time to the civil and public servants.

(2) That we also acknowledge and express our profound gratitude to His Excellency for the appointments he has given to some Etoi sons namely: Mr. Ebong Bassey, the Mnaging Director of Akwa Savings and loans Ltd; Hon. Anietie Eka, Special Assistant on Project; Mr. Ekpeno Etim, Special Assistant to the Governor; and Mr. David Linus, Special Assistant to the Governor.

(3) That we the political stakeholders and Etoi people specifically thank His Excellency, the governor for having awarded the contract for the construction of the 19km Anua-Mbak-Ishiet Road, which is in keeping with his policy of consolidation of infrastructure, for which work has already begun. We would not also fail to thank his Excellency for having issued Certificate of Recognition to the Clan Head of Etoi, an action which has restored chieftaincy peace in the land.

(4) That we the Political Stakeholders and all Etoi people hereby pass a VOTE OF CONFIDENCE on His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State and fully and unreservedly support him for Second Term as governor of the State; this will translate into 100 percent votes in Etoi Clan for His Excellency in 2019.

(5) The meeting congratulated the State Chairman of the Party, Obong Paul Ekpo, on his emergence as the chairman of the Forum of all PDP State Chairmen in the country, and all Etoi people also believe that given the caliber of people in the leadership of the Party in the State and national, PDP will come out far stronger from all the distractions.

(6) That we warmly salute His Excellency for performing the ground-breaking of the proposed modern Regional market at Mbiabong etoi/Ifa ikot Okpon, and appeal to our development-loving Governor to ensure swift commencement of this gigantic project that will bring untold benefits to Uyo and the State as a whole.

(7) That on the matter of the representation of Uyo State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly come 2019, we know that PDP has always been guided by the Party’s Constitution which provides for principles of justics, equity and fairness. That for the avoidance of ethnic rivalry, bad blood, injustice, and bitterness, Uyo people institution zoning in respect of State Constituency representation in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly years ago and since then, all the four clans have had their turn as follows: (1999-2003, Oku Clan; 2003-2007, Etoi Clan; 2007-2011, Ikono Clan; 2011-2015,Offot Clan; 2015-2019,Oku Clan), it then follows that it is the turn of Etoi Clan to produce Uyo State Constituency representative in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in the 2019-2023 session. We state these facts without any prejudice or hurt to any Uyo person.

(8) That we the Etoi people are bound under a bound of unity for our mutual good and the benefit of our posterity, the Uyo people, Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria.
