Inibehe Effiong’s Ambition Of Dishonesty By Richard Ekpo
Nothing in human history is worse than dishonesty; desperately worst is a dishonest fellow in robes of honesty, such dishonesty that seeks to sweep away humanity, by buying into their innocence with saintly folklores. Dealing with dishonest people leaves us sleepless, but a pathological liar is one who constantly amazes the devil at the conscience he braves in spewing deceits and falsehood, even the ones that seeks to pitch the society against its very self.
The unlucky folks that have fallen neck-deep for his deceits and mean propaganda leaves those who are aware of his antics with no doubt that if Lucifer, who prior to his eviction; having been such a smooth fellow given to mindless vices were to be around till today, he would have been an intern under Inibehe Effiong.
What motivates his audacity leaves more to desire, but the blindness he feigns in the face of effluent odour that surrounds his everyday endeavour, would make a man want to ask if there are two rules to living a honest life, with his module being the exact mirror reflection of what honesty should be.
Is it not in the bible that “he who is faithful in little would not be any different in much”, a reverse of this narrative would not be different, as an age long African proverb holds that “a juju priest though repented, never forgets the killer leaf”. A man who showed dishonesty when nothing was at stake would employ more of his enterprise of deceit when there is a prize.
Little then wonder when Inibehe who if not for a waiver the University of Uyo allowed him, would have been in jail, preaches holiness and self righteousness, and with such unimaginable nerve that gets one asking if he is still the same Inibehe Edem Effiong in the Ooctober 23, 2012 letter, that was signed by then dean of Law Faculty, Prof. Enefiok Essien.
How he shrugs off the stench that drips from that letter makes him an unrepentant villain because the contents are enough to have sent him on an everlasting exile, but somehow he still finds the footing to call out lesser crimes putting him and sponsors as lone ranger saints.
Who could be more misguiding than a fellow who misguided the reputed University of Uyo into believing he had any integrity in the face of his ever-growing greed and selfishness? He betrayed the trust of the entire university when he falsified his CGPA, to buy a clearance that allowed him contest as president of the institution’s Law Students Association, commonly known as LAWSAN.
The last was thought to have been heard of his misdemeanor, until he recently started laying claims to being a former president of the association, all for purpose of serving his “plywood” ego with no recourse to the realities that people who were shamed by his misadventure of falsification are still alive and very weary of what he represents.
The document that brought to the fore one of his many acts of infamy was that which the faculty expressed their disappointment that he could brave an expulsion and falsified grade to be president of the law students association, and true to the faculty’s unabridged commitment to uncompromised standards, he was disgraced out of the position for his more qualified opponent, Toyo Jimmy.
How he sweeps this distasteful past under the rug to spin mindless accusations in a bid to blackmail unsuspecting members of the public leaves a burden that Inibehe Effiong will never see a thing good about a man who does not patronize his enterprise of dishonesty and propaganda.
Widely celebrated for his ability to cook up non-existent stories to discredit even men of proven integrity calls to mind the ruthlessness of his desperation, as he has time and again made claims that were proven lies, all for a prize that seeks to sustain him in the propaganda business.
Today, there is not a man good enough in moral standing than his paymasters, regardless of the opprobrium that smears the under-deals that gets him smiling to the bank. It has become an earnest prayers of those who wish our state well that there should never come a time he would stand against his employers, as the cans of worm he will open would spell doom for the state.
It was Joseph B. Whirthlin who said, “to be without guile is to be free of deceit, cunning, hypocrisy and dishonesty in thought or action” and he may have pictured a man in Inibehe’s mould would someday announce himself an authority in impunity and pretentious disposition in thoughts and action.
This keeps a section of the society wondering what the characters he is paid to smear would make of this saintly vices. For crying out loud, none of these men he vilify ever had a history as pungent as the crass indiscipline of falsifying school grades and the likes, which get one amazed at what future lies ahead of the society if leadership ever calls on his door.
With the former governor of the state and Senate Minority Leaders, Chief Godswill Akpabio widely seen as an avowed target of his infamy, every discerning mind may wish to launch an inquest into what could have stirred such bad blood between him and a man the entire state reveres and celebrate for changing the fortunes and identity of an Akwa Ibom man, to one who can stand on equal toes with the rest of the Nigerian nation.
Assuming but not conceding that his insolent rants against Chief Akpabio are true, would we not be tempted to query whent Akpabio became such an evil genius, as the same Inibehe is known to have been a major ally and beneficiary of the Akpabio’s clan magnanimity and until his dirty dealings revealed him deficient in integrity, it was the Akpabios that took him in and helped him find his foot.
Regrettably that same Akpabio who holds a commendable school report in learning and character, as well as a plausible life, worthy of emulation; a man who has built the largest followership our clime has ever recorded due to his goodwill and one who has no record of treachery today represents everything Inibehe’s maladious mind captures.
Labeled every unspeakable and unthinkable thing, this young propagandist has severally proven himself a mistake in the Akwa Ibom narrative such that the future for him would always be that of vendetta against people who showed him kindness, as he keeps revealing his amity for pulling down his people through his uncivilized trade.
His recent false alarm about an attempt to his life is an infantile cry that calls to mind the wickedness of his perfidy, which can only find expression when compared to the rage and fury of hell. Nobody can ever launch such misadventure of tempering with his life, whose nucleus he had long destroyed through bitterness, falsehood, divisiveness and hatred.
Godswill Akpabio who contested elections against 56 people in 2006, won a second term despite mindless opposition and successfully transited power without a fisticuff could never have made an attempt on Inibehe’s life.
Inibehe Effiong is only exhibiting his mastery in the enterprise of lies and deceit, to advance his ambition in dishonesty. Howbeit, it is safe to pray he would someday find reasons to grant himself an amnesty and live above the petty haven of Cainism
