ITU STATE LAWMAKER SEEKS REPLACEMENT OF RETIRED NURSES IN THE STATE CIVIL SERVICE.

At the plenary season in the Akwa Ibom State House Of Assembly, the member representing the good people of Itu, Hon. (Prince) Idongesit Ituen raised a matter of urgent public importance, as he sponsors a bill seeking to address the noticeable shortage of nurses in the state health facilities.
The bill titled: " The retirement of nurses from Akwa Ibom State Civil Service for past two years. It's Negative impacts on the State Hospitals and Health Centres- A call for Action".
The Lawmaker observed that nurses have been retired within these space of time without a corresponding recruitment of nurses to replace the retired ones.
The proactive Lawmaker among other reasons, stressed that "Health Care Delivery resolves around Nurses". Hence, the need to recruit more nurses into the state civil service.
Reacting to it, the Speaking Speaker of the Sixth Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Barr) Onofiok Luke, after acknowledging the importance of the bill, referred it to the house committee on health for proper investigation and prompt report back to the house within two weeks, for further legislative action.
